God Bless America - Movie TrailerMost well-known for his stand-up comedy routines and a bunch of annoying movie roles, Bobcat Goldthwait transitioned nicely from the guy-with-the-funny-voice to serious director when he helmed 2009's The World's Greatest Dad, a film which starred Robin Williams and won over critics while largely failing to find an audience.

That black-comedy showed Goldthwait's formidable skills at directing a black-comedy, and proved him to be a significant up-and-coming director to keep our eyes on. But did he capture lightning in a bottle with the comedy about a father who unexpectedly cashes in after the sudden death of his son?

After watching the first trailer for his next film called God Bless America, we think he might have managed to capture the same sardonic spirit and black-hearted humor. You can check out the preview for God Bless America below, thanks to Hulu. But, be careful, it's a red-band trailer and may not be safe for work.

The film, which made its premier at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, stars Joel Murray as a loveless, jobless, terminally ill man who takes a gun and turns it on the stupidest, cruelest and most repulsive members of society. An unlikely accomplice, in the form of 16-year-old Roxy (Tara Lynn Barr), joins Frank on his crusade to rid the world of the people they see as destructive to society.

The outlandish violence may offend some, but others will certainly jump on board with Goldthwait's satirization of the self-centered, celebrity-crazed age in which we live.
