Lindsay Pulsipher - Bonnie ParkerWe learned earlier this summer that production on the Bonnie and Clyde legend called The Story of Bonnie and Clyde, was to get underway this fall with Limitless director Neil Burger taking the helm and Hilary Duff in the role of Bonnie Parker. But stop the presses as we now get word from THR that not only is Burger no longer sitting in the big chair, but that Lindsay Pulsipher has replaced Hilary Duff in the role of the machine gun-toting tow-headed outlaw.

Filming on the adaptation written by Tonya S. Holly of Jeff Guinn's book, Go Down together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde, is set to begin this year with Holly also at the helm. The shooting is reported to take place in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and likely Missouri.

Pulsipher, who is currently filming The Hatfields and McCoys (how's that for typecasting?) opposite Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton, has most recently played True Blood's Crystal Norris. Contrary to rumors circulating the web, Duff was not replaced because of her pregnancy, but rather due to a "scheduling conflict." "Due to our obligations with investors and international buyers, it is imperative that we stick to our current schedule," producers Holly and Tom Rogers said in a joint statement. "Therefore we are forced to explore other options for the two lead roles. Unfortunately this happens all the time in the world of filmmaking."

Good to hear Pulsipher has gotten the Bonnie Parker gig. Nothing against Duff and it's probably a bit unfair to say this, but she just seems a bit too innocent and pure(?) to pull it off. Let's not forget, Bonnie Parker was a bad ass… the other end of the ass-kicking spectrum from Lizzie McGuire.
