The Girld with the Dragon Tattoo NSFW posterThe official site for David Fincher's adaptation of the best-selling novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo has gone live. Notice we said "adaptation" and not "remake." While it still has not been made absolutely clear, when considering what screenwriter Steve Zaillian has to say, this American version will be an adaptation of the Stieg Larsson novel rather than a straight remake of the original Swedish film. He made it ever so clear that he purposefully avoided watching Swedish director Niels Arden Oplev's film to remain uninfluenced.

In addition to the new site that just went live today, you can also listen to an excerpt of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' soundtrack the duo put together for the film.

The only things on the new site so far are the teaser trailer and a series of eighteen character bios. So if you are new to the series, you should read up to ready yourself for the film's release which comes this Christmas. By the way, they are spoiler-free so, no worries.

Visit The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo official site by going here.

You can also listen to a snippet of the soundtrack below. While it appears the case, our fingers are crossed that this dark, angsty soundtrack full of bells and moody synths, is an accurate representation of what Fincher has had in mind for the film.

If the film's tagline - The Feel Bad Movie of Christmas - tells us anything, we're in for a Christmas movie season with a bit different flavor. Pictures us rubbing our hands together in demented delight.

Listen to the score below:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will release to theaters on December 21st of this year.
