So, Lucasfilm directed all Star Wars fans to visit the May the 4th Be With You - Star Wars Countdown page over at starwars.com for the announcement of the Star Wars blu-ray details that would come down at 6 a.m. PST. Well, the moment has finally arrived and we have the details.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga comes to blu-ray disc on September 12 internationally and on September 16 in North America. The nine-disc set will be featured in gorgeous hi-definition and with pristine 6.1 DTS Surround Sound. The collection will be packed with 40+ hours of special features including never-before-seen content unleashed from the Lucasfilm archives.

Those who've always fallen prey to the perfumed inner-thigh and lifted-skirt of the Lucasfilm marketing machine will undoubtedly snap up this precious gem without a moment's hesitation. But casual collectors hoping to pick up what you think may be the final feather in the Star Wars video collector's cap should pull back on the reigns a bit. Don't forget that Lucas has already announced that Episode 1 will be released to theaters in 3D on February 10th next year. Then likely the other films will follow, then all six again on 3D blu-ray, and so on…
