Texas Frightmare Weekend promises to bring its own brand of thrills to North Texas this weekend when its horror convention rolls into Irving, Texas for three days of crimson-tinged fun. We'll be there covering it from severed head to bloody toe, including the Texas premiere of Lucky McKee's The Woman, a film that's already creating quite a stir in the horror realm.
The film's premise alone is enough to pack the theater, but the bigger story here is the news that followed The Woman's premier screening earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival where controversy struck after one audience member hurt themselves trying to exit the theater, and another audience member accosted McKee as the director attempted to begin a post screening Q&A. Both people had become so completely distressed and upset by the intense content and violence in the film. Sounds delicious!
McKee's THE WOMAN (produced by OFFSPRING director Andrew van den Houten) follows the horror that results when a successful country lawyer captures a wild woman in the woods and forces his family to help him "civilize" her. The film stars Carlee Baker, Marcia Bennett, Angela Bettis, Sean Bridgers, and Lauren Ashley Carter.
