February 21, 2011: We usually don't get into casting and production speculation as it all feels like a big waste of time if the rumors fail to pan out. But this particular bit currently buzzing about the web is just interesting enough that we must pass it along.

Deadline is reporting that Zack Snyder is circling Kevin Costner for a key role in his forthcoming Superman reboot. We know Henry Caville was recently tapped as the man of steel, and we're awaiting announcement of a female lead, but the article makes no mention of who Costner might play in the comic book adaptation.

The film, being produced by Christopher Nolan and written by David S. Goyer, is set to go into production later this year, so some officially announcements are sure to come rolling in within the coming months.
