The Matrix 4 & 5

We don't like to broker in rumors because we've had our little movie hearts broken too many times and don't want to send you down that same path of gloom and despair (the wrist scars are quite embarrassing), but this one seems to have a little bit of meat on its realm-of-possibility bones.

AICN received scoop and has published the story that Keanu Reeves gave a keynote speech at the London School of Performing Arts in which he said that the Wachowskis have completed a two-picture script that would have Reeves returning to the binary world of The Matrix as Neo.

The star that does a great robot impression (even in films that don't call for a robot), was in LondonTown promoting his new movie, Henry's Crime which recently opened there. In addition to hinting that he's currently prepping for a hard "R" martial arts film, and the possibility of getting Bill and Ted 3 off the ground, Reeves says he met with the Wachowskis for lunch over Christmas and has it that the brother filmmaking team has spoken with Jim Cameron to "discuss the pro's and con's of 3D and are looking to deliver something which has never been seen before. Keanu stated that he still has an obligation to the fans to deliver a movie worthy of the title The Matrix and he swears this time that the treatment will truly revolutionize the action genre like the first movie."

But before we all let our movie pants go too crazy, let's not forget the abortion that disguised itself as a film called Speed Racer that was also promised to be "revolutionary." We're still having Starburst and Skittles vomit nightmares after that one!

Reeves also spoke about "the need to encourage writers to continue to focus on working on new ideas (emphasis is ours) and that a good script was worth its weight in gold. For example he said the Wachowski's had just sold the most expensive script in history to Warner Brothers: a modern futuristic take on the legend of "Robin Hood". Says he understands WB paid $5 million for the rights and that  from what the Wachowski's have told him, it will be an action movie that would have the same impact visually and technically that Terminator 2 had. Confirmed that Will Smith has agreed to headline the picture." Wait a minute, didn't he just say "new ideas" and then follow that up with 'Robin Hood? *Shoulders slump*

UPDATE: The Senior Administrator for the London International School of Performing Arts informed screenrant.com that Keanu Reeves made no appearance there. So, the rumors of a Matrix 4 & 5 were false... exactly why we don't like to do this stuff. But holy cow, the scooper sure was detailed for it to be totally fabricated. Freakin' psycho!
