Michael Bay Admits to TRANSFORMERS 2 Mistakes

Though the film did a huge bank at the box office, it fell short in many of the areas where the first movie excelled. He blames some of it on the writer's strike that rushed production - he says they basically went into the movie without a script, holy cow! - but he also says there were too many endings or too many things that felt like endings, and that they basically ran out of time during post-production.

"It was kind of a mess, wasn't it?" said Bay of the film. He added, "Look, the movie had some good things in it and it was entertaining and it did very well, but it also failed in some key ways. I learned from it. And now with this third movie we're going back to basics and I absolutely believe this is going to be a much better film than the second one."

Well, let's hope he did indeed learn a lesson and won't make the same mistakes this time around with Transformers: Dark of the Moon which represents his ninth feature film as director and the third in the Transformers saga. The film is slated for a July 1, 2011 American theatrical release.

Also, check out the pic of Bay on set with LeBeouf and Huntington-Whitely crawling around in front of a green screen below. Cool pic if it's real, but we must say, it looks a little odd. Why is Bay (director) screaming through a megaphone (away from the actors) while action is going on behind him? And anyone else think his figure looks superimposed?
