The Happytime Murders - Movie Trailer

Puppet creator Jim Henson is most certainly rolling over in his grave now that his son, Brian Henson – along with STX – has just released the second red-band trailer that is called the For Your Consideration Trailer for the highly NSFW puppet murder mystery film called The Happytime Murders. And it is as over-the-top offensive as the first one was. {googleads}

The film is about the all-puppet cast of an ‘80s children’s show in Los Angeles that begins to get murdered one by one. It is up to a human private dick (Melissa McCarthy) to work with a puppet detective (voiced by Joel McHale) to solve the case.

The action combines real humans with animated puppets and the whole thing works on the premise of exploring what Muppets do after the kiddoes go to bed. And from what we learn in the trailer, they do some very bad things! Think of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Team America: World Police making a love trophy.

If you agree that there’s something primally funny about watching puppets kill, use drugs, get killed, use offensive language, and have graphic sex, then The Happytime Murders just might be the thing for you.

The internet was basically shocked after the release of the film’s first trailer back in June that featured loads of bodily fluids, rampant cursing, and graphic violence… all by puppets. This second trailer reveals a bit less footage but seems to be playing off the numerous funny tweets that hit Twitter following the release of the first trailer.

The film stars Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Elizabeth Banks, and Joel McHale.
