Drive All Night

Just drive.

The pulse is POETIC.  The neons are BOLD and knifing with exactness.  And the characters are SONGS to the night.  Dark and mysterious, this film BROODS with slick acceleration.

Drive All Night is a MASTERPIECE of mood and mayhem from award-winning writer-director Peter Hsieh and its glossiness will steal the breath right from your body.

"Drive All Night is a MASTERPIECE of mood and mayhem"

From the beginning in which we see a nubile young woman approach a video game console to the heights of the very end, this film is an expressive ode to everything we lovable  losers love about the 1980s as a swing-shift taxi driver and his mysterious passenger approach the bizarre before journeying headfirst into the surreal in a night drive that won’t soon be forgotten.

Drive All Night is about unfinished business and Mortal Kombat.

The narrative follows Yutaka Takeuchi (Marvel’s The Defenders) as Dave, a reclusive swing-shift taxi driver, whose night takes an unexpected turn after he picks up a mysterious passenger, Cara (Lexy Hammonds), a young woman hiding a dark secret. The intrigue here is palpable and so, too, is the chemistry as she takes him through the city.Drive All Night

As she makes him drive through the city on a series of bizarre excursions, things get increasingly more surreal the further into the night they go. Sarah Dumont (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse,’ ‘The Royals) plays Morgan, a sympathetic waitress who works at a diner that Dave often frequents, while Johnny Gilligan plays Lenny, an obsessive hit-man guided by strange visions, who pursues our protagonists through the night.

Mysterious, complex, and multi-layered, Hsieh manages to GUIDE the viewer down, down into a man-made rabbit hole of cities, swirling neon lights, and arcade games.  And it works to create a FEVER DREAM of Wonderland-like experiences that are just dripping with rich visuals and pregnant camera shots.  The whole thing is impactful and unforgettable.

While Hsieh is most known for his staged plays that have been produced and work shopped at theaters across the country, including Nylon Fusion, Hollywood Fringe, San Jose Rep’s Emerging Artist Lab (SJREAL), T. Schreiber Studio, and the Asian American Theatre Company, ‘Drive All Night’ marks his first foray into feature filmmaking.

Drive All Night is one film you definitely do NOT want to miss.
