Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced they will release Deep Blue Sea 2, the long-awaited sequel to 1999's Deep Blue Sea, on blu-ray combo pack, DVD, and digital starting April 17, 2018.

In the 1999 original, oceanographers learned to genetically alter the brains of captive sharks (never a good idea) while searching for a cure for Alzheimer's disease. But as expected, the blood-thirsty creatures began to get smarter... and meaner. {googleads}

The upcoming sequel stays fairly true to the original (a bit TOO true, in fact) with a very similar plot in which we learn that aquatic consultant Dr. Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre) is brought in to study a secret project that is looking to extract shark antibodies with hopes that they can be modified to cure human diseases. However things begin to go awry when Dr. Calhoun discovers that unpredictable Bull sharks are being used as the test subjects. You can probably guess what happens next.
