Da 5 Bloods

Netflix just released the new trailer for Da 5 Bloods, the latest Spike Lee Joint film and the first since the director's Academy Award-winning BlacKkKlansman in 2018. You can watch the trailer below.

With a dearth of new movies and this film's star-studded cast that includes Chadwick Boseman and Delroy Lindo, this will certainly be a must-see when it hits the streaming platform on June 12, 2020.

"the story of four African American Vets — Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis), and Melvin (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.) — who return to Vietnam. Searching for the remains of their fallen Squad Leader (Chadwick Boseman) and the promise of buried treasure, our heroes, joined by Paul's concerned son (Jonathan Majors), battle forces of Man and Nature — while confronted by the lasting ravages of The Immorality of The Vietnam War."

The film is about four black American Vietnam veterans who return to the country under the guise of fetching the remains of fallen comrade (Boseman) and to confront their trauma from the war. We soon find out that there's another purpose for the trip when the four begin looking for buried treasure that they, perhaps, left behind after the war.

With a fantastic trailer, great music (the trailer features The Chambers Brothers' Time Has Come Today - a much under-utilized Vietnam war anthem), a star-studded cast, and Spike Lee at the helm, this unquestionably classifies as a certified coup, of sorts, for Netflix (it was slated for Cannes premiere) and will certainly be a popular release when it is available on June 12, 2020. It should be noted that a Lee film has never gone straight to the internet. The film's success could be an indicator as to whether Lee will repeat the move once the Covid pandemic is over. {googleads}

The film stars Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Chadwick Boseman, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mélanie Thierry, Paul Walter Hauser, Jasper Pääkkönen, Johnny Trí Nguyễn and many others.
