Lynyrd Skynyrd was right. Do not EVER cry for the bad man.
With a syncopated score just tick, tick, ticking away while a woman cleans blood from a wall, the opening few minutes of writer/director Sam Farmer’s Cry for the Bad Man immediately gets our attention. This is a must-see for anyone who craves to witness blood-fueled revenge at the hands of a woman who has been wronged.
Perhaps it is the determined look on Camille Keaton’s face. But when the needle drops on the record player that is spinning Mary Wells’ “My Guy” and that SIX MONTHS LATER title pops up on the screen, we know we are in confident hands for the fury that this female is going to unleash upon those who mean to do her harm.
Cry for the Bad Man is a stunner when it comes to revenge flicks. And Farmer, director of Veer! 2012, Girl of My Dreams 2013, handles the material with a keen eye toward the grizzly consequences as Marsha Kane (Keaton) gears up on ammunition and goes from sun up to sun down honing her her target practice skills. She’s getting ready for war. Her house might be a tomb, but she’s going to defend it from those who want to take it by any means necessary. {googleads}
The danger this woman faces, who is still grieving the loss of her husband while on her isolated farm, is immediate thanks to a late night visit from the sons of a local land developer. They make it clear to her that she best - if she values her life - best get to selling to them. They want the property and she has 24 hours to decide.
She goes to the local sheriff (Victor Jones) for help. She ain’t selling and she sure as shit isn’t going to lay down to these boys and their threats. But the sheriff isn’t about to lift a finger to help her. He wants her to sell the property. She wants to be left alone. With no one else to turn to, she takes matters into her own hands.
And, when the night descends, the boys return to finish the job. 
But Marsha ’s not backing down and, with an eye out for any idiot poking his head in the wrong hole, she aims to blast her way toward the daylight with her thunder-maker. This is straight up cold-blooded revenge and Cry for the Bad Man delivers the gutted glories as tables are turned time and time again, thanks to unexpected guests.
Starring Camille Keaton (I Spit on Your Grave, I Spit on Your Grave: Déjà vu), Karen Konzen, and Scott Peeler, Cry for the Bad Man is ripe with tense moments that focuses not only on Keaton’s character, but also on the bad guys who - thanks to the challenges they face - go knocking on her door late at night and get a healthy heaping of trouble and disfigurements. Some tense moments are broken up with comedic comments as the boys try to one-up Marsha, but the whole trip is worth it thanks to the film's steady hand when it comes to handling violence.
