Alien Party Crashers

When you think of a New Year’s Eve party, the last thing you would expect to attend are aliens.  But that’s exactly what happens in Alien Party Crashers, a new science fiction comedy from High Octane Pictures.  Self-invited and definitely not afraid to double-dip the same chip, these unwanted guests are a freaking nuisance.

Wearing yellow slickers and looking like all sorts of puffy-faced fishermen, these aliens have blue skin, long, long claws, and they follow the rain.  Their fingernails are so long, in fact, that they have trouble with opening doors.  But they will still eat you . . . as soon as they figure out how to get in the house.

"Highly quotable and bursting with an energy that is refreshing for sci-fi comedies that often feel like everything must be explained"

The new Welsh comedy is not unlike Shaun of the Dead . . . except with Aliens instead of Zombies.  That being said, the movie is not nearly as comical. Nor is it as well executed.   It is enjoyable, though, especially if you take all of the shenanigans in this movie with a grain of salt.  The joking and the ribbing are non-stop and some of the action beats are quite clever, but you definitely have to be in the right frame of mind to swallow this kooky tale of aliens among the suburbs.

Starring Robert Pugh, Craig Russell, Robert Boulter, Kai Owen, Sheena Bhattessa, and Hannah Daniel, the film takes place on two fronts: first we have the ministry of defense and, next, we have the home where the New Year’s Eve party will be.  One location is prepping for the invasion and the other has no clue that there are aliens on the horizon.  Of course, the two locations will meet, but it will be entirely too late for one side to help the others and vice versa. {googleads}

But they comically do battle with these spaced invaders as if it was their final day on earth.

Zany, twisted, and written with a wink and a nudge toward alien invasions, Alien Party Crashers never takes itself seriously.  It does: however, deal with life and death situations as this party gets busted up in the worst possible of ways.  Death and dismemberment.  These aliens might look like blue jokes, but they mean business and as soon as these party members can sober up, there’s going to be a showdown and few will survive.

Written and directed by Peter Stray, this film takes The X-Files to task as it ups the ante on comical invaders from space.  They might not be the smartest of invaders, but they get the job done with one sloppy takedown after another.   They just weren’t expecting a DJ and his cash-strapped friends to stand in their way. Alien Party Crashers

Highly quotable and bursting with an energy that is refreshing for sci-fi comedies that often feel like everything must be explained, Alien Party Crashers is notable for its salvation of many a character.  It’s all too easy to dismiss some of these actors from projects like this, but this one was already cast perfectly.  And the actors deliver solid performances.

Open-ended, Alien Party Crashers, originally released as Canaries, makes for an entertaining night in at the movies.  It is being distributed by High Octane Pictures and is now available on all streaming platforms.   Set your phasers to stun and lets make it a night to remember with these Alien Party Crashers.  I mean, how dare they?!
